What Is This Site All About?
Back in 1996 I had the opportunity to get into the internet business. I had injured myself at work and was off for a couple of months. So with my pot of coffee and a kiss on the cheek to my wife, I went into my office and began the journey of teaching myself (albiet with free lessons on the net) how to create websites. You must understand that back then there was not any of the web editors we have today. The net was in its infancy and HTML language had just been developed. The two biggest browsers at the time were, Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. I still remember when I downloaded Netscape. I went away for dinner and when I came back it had still not fully downloaded. My computer was a 486/66 and let me tell you, that was slow.
It was not long before I had the basic web site down and began selling my new found talent to the local businesses. I would take a simple site design and put there business in what was known at the time and today as a "internet mall". I had an in with the local Internet Company. I was only being charged $25.00 a month for the service and I was charging the businesses $15.00 a month to be listed on the local "mall". All was good until the Internet Company felt they were losing money on me and uped my monthly costs to $700.00. Nice move, I was out of business and they just picked up all my clients for free. I vowed I would never let the Internet beat me again. And I never have.....!
The Present Day
Wow, what a difference 13 years makes. Hosting companies are $5.95 a month and almost unlimited storage and superspeed internet connections are around the same as it was back then.
